Harmony of Rhythm and Nature – An Interactive Stage Design for a Japanese Farm Hotel
At the heart of a Japanese farm hotel known for cultivating Koshihikari rice, our design team developed a one-of-a-kind interactive mini stage — blending design, rhythm, and agriculture into a unified sensory experience.
Concept – Where Agriculture Meets Rhythm
Inspired by the client’s identity as an organic farm hotel, the concept merges agricultural storytelling with musical expression.
The stage takes the form of a nine-sided structure, each side representing both nine imported LP Aspire drums (from Latin Percussion, now part of Drum Workshop – DW) and nine traditional Japanese grains:
Rice, wheat, barley, mung beans, red beans, soybeans, millet, sorghum, and glutinous millet.
At the center, the nine grains are embedded within the ultra-clear glass stage, illuminated softly from below — symbolizing the relationship between the earth’s produce and human creativity.
Structure and Materiality
Built with 304-grade stainless steel, the structure ensures durability and a refined industrial aesthetic.
The 30mm-thick ultra-clear tempered glass surface allows guests to see the embedded grains glowing beneath their feet, enhanced by a subsurface LED lighting system.
Surrounding the stage, nine LP Aspire percussion drums create a circular rhythm zone, inviting interaction and exploration.
Material Highlights:
- 304 Stainless Steel Frame – structural strength & visual precision
- Ultra-Clear Tempered Glass – safety, transparency, and elegance
- LP Aspire Drums (DW) – musical elements integrated into spatial design
Interactive Experience – Play, Perform, and Explore
The stage was designed not merely as an object, but as an experience.
Guests — particularly children — can step on it, play the drums, dance, or jump, experiencing the vibration, rhythm, and light together.
It’s a self-entertaining micro stage that embodies joy, movement, and creativity — an echo of Japanese “matsuri” (festival) culture, where music and community meet in celebration.
Design Philosophy
This project expresses our belief that hospitality design should tell authentic stories.
By integrating musical interaction with agricultural symbolism, the stage bridges design and narrative, structure and emotion.
The nine-sided geometry represents balance, diversity, and completeness — mirroring the Japanese philosophy of harmony with nature.
Every material, sound, and reflection contributes to a space that feels both grounded and uplifting.
Conclusion – Where Design Becomes Experience
Through this project, [Your Company Name] transforms a simple stage into an immersive storytelling installation.
It celebrates sustainable design, local culture, and interactive hospitality, offering every visitor — especially young guests — a place to connect, play, and create their own rhythm.
